WHAT ARE ABUNDANT LIFE GROUPS?
At New Life we believe an Abundant Life Group provides the optimal environment for the life change Jesus Christ intends for every believer. Life change occurs as members connect to study God's Word, care and pray for each other and develop supportive relationships. An abundant life group is also a place where people can be introduced to Christ and begin to discover God's purposes for their life in a friendly, loving environment. As God continues to bless New Life with increased attendance at the Worship Services we connect people in these abundant life groups to experience life together. HOW DO THEY OPERATE? Each group is led by an approved, trained leader/shepherd who helps the group to grow in Christ, minister to each other and carry out the goals of the group. The group is kept small (4-12 people) to foster an intimate environment. As it grows, it gives birth to new groups, enabling others to take leadership roles and to bring others into fellowship with Christ and His family. The group meets in a host home or homes decided upon by the members. Groups are encouraged to meet on Sunday nights according to a church-wide schedule, but dates and times are flexible. A host home is simply a welcoming, comfortable environment where the group can meet. The host usually provides refreshments. HOW ARE GROUPS ORGANIZED? Each group has a character all its own. It can consist of people in the same stage of life, such as young married with preschool children, empty nest couples, singles or couples with teens etc. They can also be organized by geographical location, or by those with a desire to be in a multigenerational setting or single women setting etc. This characteristic of the group is determined when the group is first established. WHAT HAPPENS IN A GROUP? Bible study and discussion Relationship Building Practical Caring Prayer Accountability Snacks Opportunity to serve and use your gifts IS CHILDCARE PROVIDED? Each group determines how it will handle childcare. They can take turns while the children are in another room or arrange for someone to provide the care needed. HOW DO I GET CONNECTED TO A GROUP? We want you to find and join a circle of community where you can experience life together. You can use this web site to help you choose a group by location or by life stage. No, anyone can visit a group who has a desire to experience life in a small group of believers. |
